‘”The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall jostle one against another in
the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightings(Nahum
“Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows (Isaiah 60:8)?”
“(V3) A fire devoureth before them: and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. (V4) The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. (V5) Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in a battle array (Joel 2:2-5).”
“Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee (Isaiah 60:9).”
You wouldn’t think that a prophet who lived over 2,500 years ago could be so accurate in his description of today's modern automobile; yet, Nahum saw our mega highway systems through the Spirit of Prophecy and described them using the language of his time. The Bible plainly tells us in Daniel 12:4, “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”
Everywhere you travel, there are major highways and bypasses with thoughsands of carts doing exactly as the Scripture states: They (cars/trucks, etc.) rage in the strees (side by side always moving), they jostle against one another (accidents), they seem like torches (head lights), run like the lightning (Speeding).
It is very apparent that this Scripture is referring to the airplane. Have you ever watched an airplane land? It has landing gear that begins to fall upon its decent to the earth just as a bird lets out her feet to land on a perch of window. God’s plan is perfect in every way and it is so amazing to sit back and see how His plan is making an impact upon the world.
The appearance of horses is the way Joel described the modern day motorcycle and how accurately done. The sound that the horses made when trampling the ground is the description Joel used to describe the cracking and popping of the backfire that comes from the motorcycle when the engine is revved.
Today’s Boats are the vehicles of the water. They are versatile in more ways then you can imagine. These vehicles can certainly spread the gospel to every creature where many times a car, motorcycle or plane cannot reach. God made sure that every avenue was covered to get the salvation message to the people.
